One of the MRC’s Fire and Civil Safety Service’s functions is to facilitate cooperation between stakeholders and regional administrators who are involved with fire and civil safety. Many committees and groups are working together on issues such as revising the plan to lower fire safety risks, training firefighters, and using radiocommunication, etc.<\/p>\n

The MRC is responsible for creating a plan to lower fire safety risks (SCRSI) that has concrete goals for fire safety and specifies the steps that need to be taken to succeed in this throughout the whole territory. The MRC is responsible for managing the plan and putting it into effect. This plan lends a strategic vision to fire safety on the regional level for the 23 municipalities and 17 fire safety services that include more than 500 firefighters.<\/p>\n

The MRC also manages a telecommunications network made up of six towers and two relay sites dedicated to regionalizing the fire radio system used by fire services (SSI) for emergency calls (9-1-1) and operations throughout the territory. In terms of public safety, the MRC has an agreement with the Minister of Public Safety for providing S\u00fbret\u00e9 du Qu\u00e9bec<\/em> police services in its territory.
